The cultural events play a major role in strengthening the relationship between two communities. Music, above all, being the universal language that it is, is most suited to pave the way.
This was the case in our program. A brilliant young pianist, one of the leaders of Romanian’s new wave of artists, Mario Lucaci undertook a complex tour in Houston, during the period of 2-23 of April, 2022. During this period, he performed a recital at Virtuosi of Houston Hall, on April 10th. On April 19th he sustained another recital followed by a Master Class at Sam Houston University. On 20th of April, he participated in a Master Class with piano teacher Timothy Hester at Moores School of Music, Rice University. His visit to Rice ended with a work visit in the University, as it became one of the first options to continue his studies (he’s in high school).
Building on the success of his tour, the Romanian community in Houston, led by Mrs. Gina Macovei, theater teacher at Mozarteum Houston, and Iasi City Hall are working at the dates for a tour of the Iasi National Theatre (the oldest national cultural institution in Romania) in Houston. The actors of Iasi institution will hold spectacles in both Romanian and English for the citizens of Houston.
Also in the works is the collaboration between Houston Symphony Orchestra and Iasi Philharmonic. Two of the first violins of Houston Symphony will come to Iasi and will join Iasi Philharmonic in a series of concerts. The events are already approved and the details will follow upon the clarification of the schedule of the soloists.
