This meeting was of particular interest for the Iasi delegation as its bigger sister has a wide experience with the empowering of homeowners associations in the management of the local community.
Mrs. Sauter presented a detailed picture of the coverage of these associations throughout the main areas of Houston. She described the protocol which they follow in their close collaboration with the local authorities and their regular meetings.
She mentioned that these associations have an active role in decision making, having the best knowledge of the problems of their communities and having a clear message on the specific solutions that are most popular with their members.
From the presented results it was obvious that the management and the decisions adopted by the local administration as a result of this collaboration improved a lot and made a difference within the smaller communities.
At the request of Iasi delegation, looking to implement a similar protocol in Iasi, Mrs. Sauter described in better detail how the process of decision making at micro level works and what are its limitations besides their obvious benefits, the calendar of the meetings they have regularly with the Mayor and with specific local authorities and their active involvement in their own lives.
Houston partners offered valuable advice on how to start organizing such a partnership anew for Iasi and expressed their full availability to help along the way, remotely and through work visits in Iasi.
